The effective components of this product, flavanoids in polyphenols, are extracted from perilla (perilla frutescens var. japanica or crispa) seeds in ethanol.

To 1.0 g of this product, add 8.5 mL of 90% diethylene glycol and 0.5 mL of 1N NaOH.  Then a yellow color develops. (DAVIS)
