Chlorella, a species
of green algae, is spherical or oval cell with the dimension of
2-10µm
in diameter.
Unlike
ordinary bacteria, Chlorella propagates by dividing 4 or 8
daughter cells and contains a lot of essential nutritional
compounds including nucleic acids, vitamins and plant pigments
(chlorophyll, carotenoids and xanthophylls).

Chlorella was studied as a source of protein.
